CHA EUN-WOO APPEALS TAX ASSESSMENT AFTER $9M PAYMENT

Cha Eun-woo has filed an appeal with South Korea’s Tax Tribunal after paying 13 billion won (about $9 million) in back taxes, arguing that the assessment was unfair.

His agency, Fantagio, confirmed the appeal but declined to discuss details while the case is under review.

The tax dispute stemmed from a government audit that initially assessed about 20 billion won in unpaid taxes before the amount was reduced.

Cha paid the full amount in April while respecting the tax authority’s procedures and may file an administrative lawsuit if his appeal is denied.

The singer-actor is currently serving his mandatory military service and is expected to be discharged in January 2027.
