The 17-year-old from Cebu City needed just 21 minutes to secure the win and will next face Canada’s Althia Bedi for a quarterfinal berth.
Fellow Filipinas Christel Fuentespina and Ma. Nicole Notorio also advanced with straight-game victories in the under-19 division.
In the girls’ under-15 event, Alexzandria Gail Noceja booked a Round of 16 spot after a dominant win over Alyzha Marabulas.
Several Filipino players remain in contention as the tournament heads into the knockout rounds.
