BILL PUSHES WEST PHILIPPINE SEA EDUCATION TO PROTECT FILIPINOS FROM ‘TREASON’

The House “Young Guns” Bloc has filed House Bill No. 10587, or the proposed “West Philippine Sea Education Act,” to strengthen public awareness of the Philippines’ maritime rights.

The bill seeks to integrate age-appropriate West Philippine Sea lessons into basic and higher education to counter foreign propaganda and misinformation.

It aims to teach students about the country’s maritime claims under the Constitution, Philippine laws, UNCLOS, and the 2016 South China Sea Arbitral Award.

The measure also calls for updated learning materials, teacher training, public awareness campaigns, and research on maritime issues.

The lawmakers said the program should be nonpartisan, evidence-based, and focused on internationally recognized facts and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
