John Riel Casimero delivered a dominant performance, stopping Luis Nery in the fourth round of their 124-pound catchweight bout in Japan on Saturday, June 6.
Casimero, a former three-division world champion, backed up his pre-fight claim that Nery would be “easy work” by overwhelming the Mexican from the opening bell.
He scored multiple knockdowns across the first three rounds before finishing the fight with a crushing combination in the fourth that forced the referee to stop the bout.
Despite Nery repeatedly beating the count and attempting to fight back, Casimero’s power and relentless pressure proved too much throughout the contest.
The victory improved Casimero’s record to 36-5-1 with 25 knockouts and marked a strong return that he hopes will lead to another world title opportunity.
