Bacolod Mayor Greg Gasataya said the city is testing its localized 911 emergency hotline, with the DILG preparing to issue a certificate for its official launch.
Once operational, calls from Bacolod will be directly handled by local operators, improving coordination and response times during emergencies.
Gasataya said the system will help address previous concerns over calls being handled by operators outside the city.
He urged residents to use 911 responsibly for police, fire, and other emergencies.
The move follows the launch of the SAFE NIR Dial 911 program, which has received 364 calls and led to 53 arrests since June.
