Sen. Robin Padilla backed Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla’s call to repeal the so-called “Robin Padilla Law” and strengthen gun control measures.
Padilla also said martial law could be an effective way to fight crime, saying he would support its declaration.
He said he and Remulla were working on a proposal to repeal the law, which made illegal possession of loose firearms bailable.
Padilla also cited Senate Bill No. 2412, which seeks to penalize gun owners who negligently allow their firearms to be used in crimes.
The calls came after the fatal shooting at Ateneo de Zamboanga University involving two students.
