Education Secretary Sonny Angara visited Tangway Integrated School in Batangas to promote stronger links between local farmers and schools through the expanded School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP).
He met with nine farmer cooperatives to discuss sourcing fresh produce for student meals, aiming to improve nutrition while providing stable markets for farmers.
The SBFP will receive a historic P25.6 billion budget for School Year 2026–2027, supporting 4.63 million learners and doubling last year’s allocation.
Tangway Integrated School, serving 895 students, is being piloted as a farm-to-school model, using local vegetables to enhance student health, attendance, and classroom participation.
Earlier, Angara joined Cabinet officials in inaugurating new school facilities in Lipa City as part of the “Matatag na Batangas Tungo sa Bagong Pilipinas” initiative to strengthen education and local infrastructure.
