MARCOS AUTHORIZES DISCLOSURE OF VP SARA DUTERTE’S TAX DOCUMENTS

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has authorized the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) to submit and unseal the tax records of Vice President Sara Duterte and her husband, Manases Carpio, following a subpoena issued by the Senate impeachment court.

Malacañang said the President approved the move to comply with the law and ensure the truth is uncovered, rejecting claims that the decision was politically motivated.

The BIR submitted the subpoenaed tax documents in sealed boxes to the Senate impeachment court before the court’s deadline, while banks also turned over related records.

The court confirmed receiving the documents, which have not yet been opened or reviewed.

The tax and bank records are expected to be used in the impeachment proceedings involving alleged unexplained wealth and discrepancies in Duterte’s statements of assets, liabilities, and net worth.
