A lawmaker expressed strong support for the proposed substitute bill on the Right to Information (RTI) during deliberations at the Committee on Appropriations.
Brian Poe stressed the need to institutionalize transparency and public access to government information, saying it is key to accountability and good governance.
The bill, which includes Poe’s House Bill No. 1187, has already passed key House committees and is expected to reach the plenary soon.
He noted that the Senate has approved its own version of a freedom-of-information measure, signaling renewed momentum for the long-delayed reform.
Poe also urged lawmakers and stakeholders to support the bill and ensure adequate funding for its implementation.
