The House of Representatives approved on third and final reading a bill granting free licensure and civil service examinations to poor Filipinos and members of indigenous groups.
The measure, House Bill No. 8869, passed with 266 votes in favor and seeks to exempt indigent applicants from exam fees imposed by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and Civil Service Commission (CSC).
It aims to help qualified Filipinos become licensed professionals and access government jobs without financial barriers.
Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander Marcos III said the measure ensures equal opportunity for hardworking Filipinos to improve their lives through education and employment.
Eligible applicants must present proof of indigency or indigenous membership, while the bill also mandates information campaigns to ensure wider awareness of the program.
