Transport group Piston plans a nationwide strike by the end of March amid rising fuel prices linked to the Middle East crisis.
Piston president Mody Floranda said government support, including planned diesel subsidies, is insufficient without suspending excise and value-added taxes on fuel.
Public transportation operators have already lost an estimated **P42,000 over 25 days**, with an additional **P6,000 lost due to oil taxes**.
Officials note the Middle East conflict affecting global oil prices could last up to two months, while the government has allocated **P2.5 billion in fuel subsidies** once oil hits $80 per barrel.
Piston will hold a rally on Monday in Quezon City to protest rising fuel costs and push for urgent government action.
