The Philippines and India held the 2nd Joint Working Group on Counter-Terrorism in Manila on May 14 to strengthen bilateral cooperation against terrorism.
Officials from both countries discussed current security threats, terror financing, cyber misuse, violent extremism, and the use of emerging technologies by terrorist groups.
The two sides also explored possible joint activities involving intelligence sharing, tabletop exercises, and capacity-building programs.
Representatives from several Philippine security agencies and Indian government offices attended the meeting to reinforce coordination on counterterrorism efforts.
The next Joint Working Group meeting is scheduled to take place in India in 2027 under the two countries’ Strategic Partnership established in 2025.
