Vietnamese President and Communist Party leader Tô Lâm arrived in Manila yesterday for a historic two-day state visit to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the Philippines and Vietnam.
He and his wife were welcomed at Villamor Air Base and received full arrival honors from Philippine officials led by Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr.
The visit marks the first by a Vietnamese party leader to the Philippines and comes as both countries prepare to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations and a decade of strategic partnership.
Lâm is scheduled to lay a wreath at Rizal Park before holding a bilateral meeting with President Marcos in Malacañang.
The leaders are expected to discuss expanded cooperation in defense, maritime security, trade, food security, and other key areas, with Marcos also hosting a state luncheon in his honor.
