Vice President Sara Duterte said the world is witnessing a “grave abuse of power” in the Philippines following a gunfire incident at the Senate that sparked chaos and panic.
Speaking in The Hague, she criticized recent developments tied to the Supreme Court’s decision on Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa’s petition regarding his arrest and possible turnover to the International Criminal Court.
Duterte argued that foreign courts have no jurisdiction in the country and said dela Rosa’s rights under the Constitution were being violated.
She also accused the Marcos administration of using state resources to target political opponents and said governance should focus on economic recovery instead of politics.
Duterte added that former President Rodrigo Duterte was aware of the Senate incident after seeing it reported in the news.
