MABILOG GRAFT CASE DROPPED AFTER PROLONGED DELAY

The Sandiganbayan dismissed the graft case against Interior Undersecretary and former Iloilo City mayor Jed Mabilog due to inordinate delay in resolving the complaint.

The court granted Mabilog’s motion to quash the case and lifted the hold order against him.

Mabilog was accused of awarding a towing and clamping contract to 3L Towering Services without public bidding.

The court noted that nearly eight years passed between the filing of the complaint in 2015 and the filing of the case in court in 2023.

It said the Ombudsman failed to justify the delay or prove that Mabilog suffered no prejudice from it.
