RIDERS WELCOME LTFRB CRACKDOWN, INDUSTRY REFORMS

The Motorcycle Taxi Rider Association (METRO) backed the LTFRB’s efforts to clean up and professionalize the motorcycle taxi industry.

METRO co-convenor Jayson Luna said identifying legitimate riders and addressing “ghost riders” and unauthorized overboarding would create a more professional and traceable system.

The LTFRB has capped rider registration and banned “multi-homing,” or accepting bookings across different platforms.

Luna said the regulations aim to protect riders and provide commuters with a more accountable transport service.

Consumer group Digital Pinoys said a verified list of riders would also help the government develop future policies.
