WEATHER DISTURBANCES INFLICT P4-B DAMAGE, HIT 82 FLOOD CONTROL PROJECTS

Damage from the southwest monsoon and tropical cyclones Luis and Maymay has reached P4.02 billion, with 82 flood control projects among the infrastructure affected, the Office of Civil Defense said.

Infrastructure losses accounted for P3.33 billion, while agricultural damage reached P689.7 million, with most of the damaged flood control projects in the Ilocos region.

The weather disturbances have killed 22 people, injured 17, and left three missing.

About 4.8 million people or 1.4 million families across 10 regions were affected, with nearly 44,700 people staying in evacuation centers.

The government has provided P592.5 million in aid to affected communities.
