Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan refused Sen. Robin Padilla’s request to apologize on record for a heated exchange during plenary proceedings, instead urging him to pursue an ethics complaint.
Padilla insisted the apology should be recorded and the incident removed from the Senate record, saying the matter involves proper decorum and respect.
Pangilinan maintained his position and said the issue should be elevated to the ethics committee, stressing there are more important legislative matters to discuss.
Senate President Pro Tempore Loren Legarda later suspended the session amid the disagreement.
The exchange followed a separate incident where Sen. Panfilo Lacson apologized to Sen. Pia Cayetano over a false claim involving Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
