President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. dismissed as “nonsense” calls to oust him over alleged selective justice and unresolved corruption cases linked to flood control projects.
Speaking in Canada, Marcos said his administration was the first to expose irregularities in state-funded flood control programs, including anomalies that predated his term.
He acknowledged that the government’s investigation is still ongoing, saying authorities continue to uncover more questionable projects and individuals involved.
Marcos also noted that former president Rodrigo Duterte had recognized problems in flood control projects but that no accountability measures were previously carried out.
The President said the administration remains committed to addressing what he described as a deeply rooted system of corruption, citing investigations that have already led to referrals, legal actions, and the freezing of billions of pesos in bank accounts.
