The Bureau of Internal Revenue now requires online sellers to display registration certificates and a new registration seal badge on their platforms to help verify business legitimacy.
Under a new revenue memorandum circular, the agency introduced QR codes on Certificates of Registration that allow customers and authorities to check the authenticity of businesses.
The BIR said it will issue a registration seal badge alongside existing certificates, with both documents featuring scannable QR codes for online verification.
While old certificates without QR codes remain valid, sellers are encouraged to update them to comply with the new system.
The move follows discussions with anti-crime officials on improving tax compliance in the digital economy using advanced technologies.
