Spotify introduced a new “Verified by Spotify” badge to help listeners distinguish human musicians from AI-generated music as synthetic tracks continue to grow on streaming platforms.
The green checkmark will appear on artist profiles and search results to confirm that an account has been reviewed and meets authenticity standards.
Artists will need sustained listener engagement, compliance with platform rules, and evidence of real-world activity such as concerts and social media presence to qualify, while AI-generated profiles will not be eligible.
Spotify said the move aims to improve trust in music amid concerns that AI-created content is flooding catalogs, with some competitors reporting nearly half of new uploads being synthetic.
The platform will also add new artist information sections showing career details and performance history to help listeners better assess authenticity.
