The Philippine government launched the final draft of the Philippines AI+ Infrastructure Masterplan 2026–2033, a $34.4-billion roadmap aimed at making the country a regional hub for AI infrastructure.
The plan seeks to expand AI data center capacity 30-fold, from 50 megawatts to 1.5 gigawatts by 2033, while ensuring additional power will not reduce electricity available to Filipino households.
The government will initially rely on natural gas and aims to source 40% of AI infrastructure’s power from renewable energy by 2033, while also exploring nuclear power as a long-term option.
The masterplan is expected to attract $13.5 billion in public and $21 billion in private investments, create more than 675,000 direct and infrastructure-related jobs, and boost GDP by 10% to 12%.
It will also reskill 1.3 million IT-BPM workers and develop AI hubs across Clark-Bataan, Batangas-Aurora, Subic, Calabarzon and key cities in the Visayas and Mindanao.
