Former police chief Nicolas Torre III has been appointed as the new general manager of the Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Palace confirmed on December 19.
He replaces retired police colonel Procopio Lipana in the post.
Torre previously served as Philippine National Police chief, where he gained recognition for leading efforts to arrest Apollo Quiboloy and overseeing the turnover of former president Rodrigo Duterte to the International Criminal Court.
His dismissal from the PNP had been unexpected and surprised many.
Reports suggest that tensions with the National Police Commission contributed to his removal, though details remain unclear.
