President Marcos marked the 83rd Araw ng Kagitingan by emphasizing that the solution to war is not more war, but peace achieved through collective recognition by conflicting parties.
Speaking at the Mount Samat Shrine in Bataan, he highlighted that valor extends beyond strength and resolve, encompassing acts of kindness that bring positive change to communities.
Marcos expressed disappointment that many nations have yet to learn from the painful lessons of World War II and reiterated that peace must involve all parties, not just one country.
He also urged Filipinos to honor the legacy of World War II heroes by advancing causes that improve lives through self-sacrifice and service to the nation.
In his remarks, Speaker Martin Romualdez and Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro Jr. also emphasized the importance of upholding the enduring spirit of service, sacrifice, and nation-building.
