The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a show-cause order to a government agency over the alleged use of a vehicle with a fake red license plate.
The vehicle, a Ford Explorer that went viral online, was reportedly registered to the agency but was found to have an improvised plate, with its last official registration dated April 11, 2025.
The LTO has ordered the agency’s representative and the assigned driver to attend a hearing on May 13 to explain possible violations, including the use of unauthorized plates and failure to comply with the compulsory registration requirement.
The driver also faces additional complaints, such as reckless driving and being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle. In contrast, the vehicle has been placed under alarm status, and the license has been suspended for 90 days.
LTO chief Markus Lacalinao stressed that no individual or government office is exempt from traffic laws and urged agencies to set a proper example.
