Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chair Sen. Panfilo Lacson said efforts to suppress the findings of its investigation into the alleged flood control scandal will fail, as public demand for accountability remains strong.
He announced he will deliver a privilege speech this week to present the committee’s Chairman’s Progress Report after a previous partial report failed to gain enough signatures for plenary transmission.
Lacson said the report aims to correct “false narratives” and stressed that the issue is more serious than past corruption scandals due to its alleged impact on lives and livelihoods.
He added that the findings may be forwarded to agencies such as the DOJ and Ombudsman for case build-up, with additional evidence to be presented.
Senate hearings may resume later in the session and could include key officials and witnesses, depending on the chamber’s schedule and possible impeachment proceedings.
