President Marcos has appointed Secretary Christina Frasco as presidential adviser for sustainable and resilient communities, weeks after rumors about her departure from the Department of Tourism (DOT) circulated.
Frasco, who faced criticism over her photos appearing on tourism promotional materials, will be replaced by Tourism Undersecretary Verna Buensuceso as officer-in-charge.
Malacañang said Frasco’s new role will focus on strengthening climate-related initiatives and supporting local communities affected by environmental hazards.
The Palace expressed gratitude for her service in tourism and confidence that she will continue to advance national priorities.
Frasco, former mayor of Liloan, Cebu, and daughter of ex-governor Gwendolyn Garcia, was first appointed DOT secretary in 2022 and has also served as spokesperson for Vice President Sara Duterte.
