President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Dita Angara-Mathay as the new secretary of the Department of Tourism, Malacañang announced on April 10.
She replaces officer-in-charge Verna Buensuceso following the transfer of former Tourism chief Christina Frasco to another post.
The Palace said Angara-Mathay brings decades of experience in trade, investment, and international economic engagement.
It added that her appointment aims to strengthen tourism’s link to economic growth, attract more investments, and support local industries nationwide.
The Department of Tourism welcomed her appointment, citing her experience in advancing global trade and investment partnerships.
