ABALOS CONDEMNS AI DATA CENTER FIRM FOR LEAVING ILOILO PUBLIC HEARING

Cabinet Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. condemned Norwegian AI data center proponent Daniel Stefan Robertsen for walking out of a public hearing and cursing reporters in Iloilo.

Robertsen left the Aug. 14 consultation in Oton, where his company Norway Green Energy plans to build a 50-megawatt AI data center on a 10-hectare agricultural site.

Abalos called Robertsen’s behavior “deplorable” and said Filipinos should not be disrespected in their own country.

Robertsen also threatened to sue reporters who took photos and videos of him during the hearing.

The proposed project has drawn controversy after residents learned about the public consultation only a day before it was held.
