The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) announced that it now has 4.5 million emergency family food packs prepositioned nationwide to ensure faster disaster response.
The stock is strategically placed across hubs, spokes, and last-mile warehouses as part of the agency’s Buong Bansa Handa program.
The initiative uses two supply chains, including partnerships with local governments and the private sector, to enable efficient deployment during emergencies.
DSWD Assistant Secretary Leo Quintilla highlighted that this preparedness reflects the dedication and coordination of agency personnel and partners.
The agency also plans to open a new disaster resource center in Butuan City, with a PHP500 million allocation, to further its capacity to assist families affected by disasters.
