ASEAN pledged to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against the illicit drug trade as part of its goal of building a drug-free region during the 48th ASEAN Summit in Cebu.
Leaders reaffirmed support for regional drug control mechanisms, including the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Drug Matters and the implementation of a work plan to strengthen community protection against illegal drugs.
The bloc will also observe ASEAN Drug Victims Remembrance Day on June 26 to raise awareness on the dangers of drug abuse.
ASEAN leaders also praised ongoing defense cooperation, human rights initiatives, and efforts to strengthen peacebuilding and inclusive development across the region.
They emphasized continued collaboration with international partners, civil society, and youth to address security, human rights, and emerging regional challenges.
