Senior high school students will soon have the option to enroll in a new food service curriculum co-developed by the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Jollibee Group, combining classroom lessons with on-the-job training at Jollibee restaurants.
The program, part of DepEd’s technical professional (TechPro) track, will teach students restaurant operations, food preparation, customer service, and workplace safety.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara highlighted the partnership as a strong example of public-private cooperation to make education more industry-relevant and prepare students for a changing job market.
The curriculum pilot will start in the upcoming school year, with expansion dependent on its success.
Additionally, the Jollibee Group Foundation pledged to build 50 classrooms by 2028 to address classroom shortages nationwide.
