OMBUDSMAN UNWORRIED OVER CAYETANOS’ SINGAPORE VISIT

Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said he was not concerned about Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano’s trip to Singapore with his sister, Sen. Pia Cayetano.

The Bureau of Immigration confirmed that the two senators left for Singapore on Wednesday and had no hold departure orders or derogatory records.

Remulla said he expects the Cayetanos to return, noting that Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano also accompanied her husband on the trip.

Alan Peter Cayetano is facing investigations over alleged irregularities in flood control and reclamation projects in Taguig and the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

Remulla also distinguished the trip from Sen. Loren Legarda’s extended medical leave, which the Ombudsman has described as suspicious amid graft and plunder complaints.
