The Catholic bishops of the Philippines will consecrate the nation to Divine Mercy on April 27, marking a collective response of faith amid global and national challenges.
The consecration will take place during all Masses on Divine Mercy Sunday, which falls on the second Sunday of Easter and is seen as a profound expression of trust in God’s mercy.
Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David, CBCP president, emphasized that the prayer of consecration would be recited during Mass in place of the General Intercessions, urging dioceses and Catholic institutions to participate.
This spiritual initiative comes in response to issues such as corruption, global conflict, and the opposition to Church teachings on life and family.
Divine Mercy Sunday, established by Pope John Paul II in 2000, has become a significant day of prayer and devotion for Catholics worldwide.
