Palace Press Officer Claire Castro called for respect and civility after she and Presidential Communications Office director Robertzon Ramirez were heckled by protesters while documenting President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s official activities in Vancouver, Canada.
Castro said the incident disrupted their social media shoot as protesters shouted anti-Marcos remarks and continued following them.
She stressed that while freedom of expression should be respected, it should not involve rude or threatening behavior.
Castro also claimed she was insulted and felt uneasy during the confrontation, prompting them to approach nearby police officers.
She appealed to Filipinos to maintain respectful discourse despite political differences, emphasizing that the delegation was in Canada to perform official duties and not for leisure.
