The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has declared 70 senatorial aspirants as “nuisance candidates,” citing the need to maintain the integrity of elections. Another 47 cases remain under review. Declared aspirants can appeal the decision before the Comelec en banc. Nuisance candidates are defined under the Omnibus Election Code as individuals filing with no genuine intention to run or to confuse voters.
