The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) welcomed the proposed P11 billion allocation for its Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program under the 2026 national budget.
This funding will support temporary jobs for displaced and disadvantaged workers through community projects and short-term internships.
DOLE and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) are set to receive a combined total of P55.2 billion in 2026, with DOLE’s budget slightly reduced to P44.38 billion from P51.20 billion in 2025.
The TUPAD program will provide 10-day work opportunities paying the regional minimum wage, while the Government Internship Program (GIP) offers short-term placements for students and young professionals.
Meanwhile, TESDA will continue to boost workforce readiness with significant funding for scholarships and skills training programs next year.
