The Supreme Court dismissed the petition of detained contractor Sarah Discaya challenging the Ombudsman’s finding of probable cause to charge her with graft and malversation over a “ghost” flood control project in Davao Occidental.
The Court said the petition had become moot after the Ombudsman filed the corresponding charges and a trial court issued a warrant of arrest.
It also ruled that the charges were supported by substantial evidence and found no valid reason to overturn the Ombudsman’s findings.
Discaya is facing multiple cases before a court in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, and remains detained in connection with the alleged ₱96.5-million anomalous project in Jose Abad Santos town.
The Supreme Court issued its ruling during its session on April 8.
