The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) formally received two 27-meter Marine Protector-class patrol vessels from the United States on Aug. 20.
The former USCGC Marlin and USCGC Bluefin will arrive in Manila in October and be commissioned as BRP Pag-asa and BRP Patag.
The vessels will boost the PCG’s maritime safety, environmental protection, and emergency response capabilities.
Twenty-four PCG crew members completed specialized training for the new vessels.
The acquisition highlights the continuing maritime security partnership between the Philippines and the United States.
