TELCOS STEP UP EFFORTS TO BLOCK VIOLENT CONTENT SITES

Major internet service providers are strengthening online safety measures by blocking websites that promote violence and other harmful content, particularly those accessible to young people.

Converge said it blocked nearly 12 billion access attempts to dangerous sites and blacklisted around 12,000 malicious domains in 2025.

Globe reported blocking more than 438,000 attempts to access child sexual abuse and exploitation materials and plans to block sites hosting graphic violence.

PLDT has also blocked over 100 sites streaming videos of school violence following a recent school shooting.

The moves come as lawmakers and authorities urge internet providers to do more to protect children from harmful content and violent extremism.
