President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will visit Malaysia from October 26 to 28 for the final ASEAN summit before the chairship is transferred to the Philippines.
He is expected to meet with 14 ASEAN leaders and partners, with discussions covering regional peace, security, and Myanmar, while talks on the West Philippine Sea Code of Conduct will continue.
A major highlight of the summit is the formal inclusion of Timor-Leste as the youngest ASEAN member.
Marcos will also attend several key meetings, including the ASEAN-Japan, ASEAN-India, and ASEAN-US summits, overseeing three major signing ceremonies out of 80 expected outcome documents.
The summit will culminate in the official turnover of the ASEAN chairship to the Philippines, with potential engagement with US President Donald Trump on economic matters if his attendance is confirmed.
