The Department of Justice has issued a subpoena to Senator Robin Padilla over a complaint alleging obstruction of the apprehension and prosecution of criminal offenders in connection with Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa’s departure from the Senate in May.
Padilla was ordered to appear before the DOJ Panel of Prosecutors on Sept. 25 and Oct. 9 and submit his counter-affidavit and supporting documents.
The PNP-CIDG filed the complaint against Padilla and others, alleging they helped Dela Rosa evade arrest amid an International Criminal Court warrant.
Padilla has acknowledged that Dela Rosa rode in his vehicle when leaving the Senate but has maintained that he did not help the senator escape, noting that there was no locally issued arrest warrant at the time.
