The government will begin construction this year of a P5-billion dedicated cruise terminal in Entertainment City near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to boost Manila’s position as a home port for international cruise ships.
The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) and the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) are set to sign a memorandum of agreement for the project, which is expected to be completed within the Marcos administration.
Located at the end of Aseana Avenue beside major resorts and commercial developments, the terminal will feature facilities that can accommodate up to four vessels at a time.
PPA officials said the site was chosen for its strategic proximity to the airport, allowing tourists to easily begin or end cruise trips in Manila.
Beyond tourism, the project is also seen as a potential boost to property demand in the Bay Area, which currently has high vacancy rates in residential and commercial developments.
