Timor-Leste Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão extended his stay in Cebu after the 48th ASEAN Summit to visit the city’s historical landmarks on May 9.
He toured major heritage sites, including the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu, Magellan’s Cross, and Fort San Pedro.
The visit was followed by a courtesy call at Cebu City Hall, where he was welcomed by local officials led by Mayor Nestor Archival and Vice Mayor Tomas Osmeña.
City leaders said the tour highlighted Cebu’s rich cultural heritage and strengthened diplomatic ties following the ASEAN Summit.
Discussions also explored potential cooperation in tourism and agriculture between Cebu and Timor-Leste.
