Sen. Imee Marcos faced online criticism for allegedly breaching the dress code at the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu during the Fiesta Señor celebration on January 10.
She reportedly wore a sleeveless blouse, which is prohibited inside the church.
The Augustinian friars emphasized that all visitors must follow the dress code, regardless of others’ actions.
Fr. Jules Van Almerez reminded devotees that adherence to the policy shows respect for the Holy Child and maintains the solemnity of prayers.
Netizens questioned whether the Basilica selectively enforces its rules, but the church affirmed that the policy applies to everyone.
