Senator Imee Marcos on Friday said the administration’s actions toward the Senate majority bloc are “very obvious,” accusing the executive branch of interfering in legislative affairs.
She pointed to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s remarks on proposed Senate rule changes, particularly the issue of allowing online voting for senators.
The President had earlier rejected the proposal, saying it appeared aimed at enabling Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa to participate despite legal issues.
Marcos, however, said these statements amount to “clear incursions” into the constitutional boundaries between the executive and legislative branches.
She added that the moves could be intended to weaken the Senate’s independence and influence the outcome of ongoing investigations.
