Cavite Rep. Lani Mercado-Revilla stressed that the current fuel price crisis is not the fault of Filipinos, but they are the first to feel its impact.
She urged the government to provide immediate economic relief, including reducing VAT on essential food items and reviewing the TRAIN Law to protect citizens’ purchasing power.
Mercado-Revilla highlighted how rising fuel prices are driving up transport and commodity costs, placing additional strain on households.
She also pushed for reforms in the power sector, calling for the passage of House Bill No. 6976 to stop electricity system loss charges from being passed on to consumers.
The lawmaker emphasized that these measures would give direct and immediate relief to Filipino families facing soaring energy and living costs.
