President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a phone conversation on Monday to discuss regional security, economic priorities, and ways to further strengthen the Philippines-United States alliance.
Marcos described the discussion as productive, highlighting shared commitments on bilateral trade and regional cooperation.
According to the US State Department, the two officials also discussed developments in the South China Sea and other key regional issues.
Rubio reaffirmed Washington’s support for the Luzon Economic Corridor, a major infrastructure and supply chain initiative linking Subic, Clark, Metro Manila, and Batangas through projects in transportation, clean energy, agribusiness, and digital connectivity.
The call underscored the enduring partnership between the two nations as they prepare to commemorate 80 years of diplomatic relations and 75 years of alliance ties in 2026.
