President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. departed for Canada on July 1 for an official visit aimed at strengthening economic and security ties between Manila and Ottawa.
The trip, at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, marks the first visit by a Philippine president to Canada in 10 years and includes meetings with Canadian officials and business leaders.
Marcos said discussions will focus on trade and investment, defense cooperation, and emerging sectors such as critical minerals, renewable energy, cyber technology, and telecommunications.
He also noted plans to advance negotiations on free trade agreements and deepen cooperation on regional issues, including the West Philippine Sea and the Indo-Pacific.
The President is also set to meet members of the Filipino community in Canada during his visit.
