TEODORO: P40M BOOST SECURED FOR VETERANS’ CLINICS

An additional P40 million has been earmarked this year to keep government-run VALOR clinics for Filipino veterans operating, Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. said.

The funding comes as the clinic at Fernando Air Base in Batangas saw its monthly patient load rise fivefold to around 1,000.

Teodoro said the government aims to shorten waiting times by partnering with local hospitals and referring complex cases to the Veterans Memorial Medical Center.

The Department of National Defense also plans to integrate the Armed Forces’ medical system with veterans’ healthcare to strengthen preventive care.

More VALOR clinics are expected to open in Cagayan de Oro and Tarlac this year, with another possible site in Nueva Ecija.
